The WHSD Department of Music winter concert season continued Tuesday evening with the first of two shows at the high school.
The performance featured the Advanced Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Alicia Scaramuzzo, as well as the ninth grade concert band and high school concert band under the direction of Mr. Robert Carr.
The choir opened the show with six selections, beginning with "A Very Merry Christmas" and "I See a Star." After the up-tempo "Bidi Bom," the choir went a capella for "Mary Sat A-Rockin" before finishing up with "Winter Stars" and an energetic rendition of "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town."
The ninth grade concert band took the stage next to perform three songs - "Freedom's Light," "Ancient Flower," and the always popular "Grim Grinning Ghosts" from Disney's Haunted Mansion.
The high school concert band took the stage next for "Allied Honor March" and "Overture to the Addams Family Musical," the latter of which required some audience participation for the finger snaps. The band closed out their performance with "Tribal Journeys," which featured a pair of student flute solos.
The two concert bands teamed up for the final song of the evening, "A Christmas Festival," which featured a medley of familiar holiday tunes.
The music department's concert season continues Wednesday, December 11 with the sixth and seventh grade concert at Dickson. The second high school concert is Thursday, December 12. Both shows begin at 7 p.m.
