Woodland Hills School District statement on August 30 community incident

Dear Woodland Hills parents and community members,

During the fourth quarter of Friday night’s football game between Penn Hills and Woodland Hills at the Wolvarena, an incident occurred in the neighborhood away from the stadium. Local law enforcement responded immediately, and to ensure the safety of all in attendance, the game was immediately halted and the stadium was cleared.

The Woodland Hills School District would like to thank local law enforcement for their prompt response and district security and staff for helping to clear the stadium as swiftly and as safely as possible. We are grateful that the student-athletes, cheerleaders, marching bands, and spectators from Woodland Hills and Penn Hills are safe.

Parents and students should not hesitate to reach out to district administrators, building administrators, or school counselors if they need assistance or have questions.

The district will provide any assistance it can as law enforcement investigates the incident. Any questions from media outlets should be directed to law enforcement officials.

Thank you,
Dr. Daniel Castagna, Superintendent
Woodland Hills School District
