IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS
Dear Parents and Students,
On Saturday, October 26, 2024, sophomores and juniors will have an opportunity to take the
PSAT/NMSQT at Woodland Hills High School. They must complete the PSAT registration Google form at https://forms.gle/5r6TEfFWkW7HcSr3A to register to take the test. The deadline to register is Tuesday, September 12th. The PSAT/NMSQT is being offered digitally in Fall 2023. The paper/pencil option will no longer be available. Students will be able to use their school issued Chromebook devices to test. More information is forthcoming.
Taking the PSAT/NMSQT can encourage a student to start thinking seriously about life after high school, about college and career goals, and about the education needed to reach those goals. The PSAT/NMSQT has been designed to mirror the SAT.
Students can prepare for this exam by reviewing the information on the PSAT/NMSQT® Student Guide that will be sent home with students prior to testing. There is additional practice available at: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/practice.
Woodland Hills High School provides all students with academic opportunities needed to prepare them for college and beyond. Participation in the PSAT/NMSQT is an important step in preparing for college.
Taking the PSAT/NMSQT provides the following advantages to students:
1. It measures the reading, math, and writing skills needed for college and career planning. After the test, students will retrieve their online score report that will highlight opportunities to strengthen academic skills. Students can use the score report to show the strengths and weaknesses pertaining to college readiness.
2. Prepares students for taking the SAT.
3. The Student Search Services gives PSAT/NMSQT test takers the option to voluntarily place their names and addresses in a pool of college-bound students interested in receiving admission and financial aid information from certified colleges, universities, and scholarship agencies.
4. Juniors who score well may qualify for National Merit Recognition and Scholarships.
5. It provides valuable information to parents and students on student potential for advanced academics in high school.
